Introduction: Almost everyone relies on the computer for numerous things. In fact, plenty of people even use the computer (or their portable laptops) for money making activities, making them able to earn money even outside conventional work places. With that, it is of great importance to properly take care of your portable laptop so that it doesn't conk out right in the middle of things.

Difficulty: 2

Things You'll Need: A toothbrush, clean working space, laptop fan, cleaning materials

Step 1. Keep Your Laptop Cool. Laptops heat when they are turned on, and they heat more when they run softwares that are high powered. Excessive heat can have detrimental effects on the inner circuits of your laptop making it essential for you to keep it cooled as much as possible. Place in in a cooler enviroment (an air conditioned room, perhaps), and use cooling fans if you must.

Step 2. Clean The Screen. Your Portable laptop's screen is very fragile device. Also, it is quite difficult and expensive, making it important for you to take good care of it. Don't point at the screen (and watch it make waves), and clean it regularly. Make sure to use only approved cleaning materials.

Step 3: Make use of laptop bags and avoid placing the laptop on the edges of the table. When carrying your portable laptop elsewhere ensure that it is cased inside the bag and that it is not dropped off. WHen this happens, it could immediately kill the life of your laptop.

Step 4: Keep your laptop from getting wet. It is unavoidable that you drink and eat near it especially when you are stuck with work loads. If you must, do so with a lot of care. As much as possible keep yourself from doing so because it could spell disaster once your laptop gets wet.

Step 5. Your laptop should be cleaned on a regular basis. This includes wiping the edges, the mouse or touchpad and the keyboard. You can brush in between the keys so as to grime and dirt from accumulating.

Step 6. Avoid Viruses. Make sure that your laptop has an anti virus program - and make sure that your program is updated. There are numerous programs that you can choose from, but make sure that its not just a trial version that eventually expires after a month. Remember that there are numerous viruses that come out each and every month - and your portable laptop can be exposed to them all the time.

Tips:

- Invest in a good portable cooler. A cooler laptop runs better than hotter laptops.

- If you spill liquid on to your portable laptop, instantly turn it off. Turn the laptop over in order to avoid having the liquid seep more into the laptop.

Warnings:

- Safety should be your concern first so turn on the anti-virus device first before plugging any external drive to your laptop. This helps detect virus, quarantine or delete viruses.

- Always keep your laptop on a safe place that is out of reach from your children and other household pets if there are any.

- Look after your laptop all the times. Leaving it unattended calls for theft.
